Title
VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 outlaws discrimination
in employment on the basis of race, color, religion, sex,
or national origin. Workforce diversity, on the other hand,
is an organization’s opportunity to embrace peoples
of all colors, nations, religions, and points of view. In
some organizations this is hard to do and long-standing prejudices
get in the way of inclusion. But those organizations, whose
leaders understand that organizations grow and prosper when
peoples from different backgrounds and beliefs come together
for a common cause, view workforce diversity as a positive
force to be embraced.
Change
is hard, and some employees need help in adjusting to the
requirements of the 21st century. Our population continues
to have more Latinos and Asians than ever before. Diversity is not
just the old black–white issues, but one of understanding
the cultures of Asian Americans, Latinos, and Arab Americans
and their religious beliefs and customs. Diversity training
helps people get to know the other person just a little bit
better. They get get to “walk a mile in their shoes”
as the old saying goes. IHRS can lead your organization or teams through a journey of inclusion
and understanding. Give us a call, we’ll be happy to
talk with you!
